First off, Wyoming just got even better as I continued more west. More rocks and stuff.. Then Utah was awesome and very pretty. I had to stop by a rest area along I-80 to get some photos of the place. After passing through Salt Lake City, I stopped to look at the Great Salt Lake. Later on, unfortunately my battery died just before I got to the Bonneville Salt Flats, so couldn't get any photos there. There seems to be so much to do in that state. Yet another place to visit more thoroughly someday. And
Nevada was also quite interesting. I love vast stretches of emptiness. I want do drive on one of those dirt roads that lead out into nowhere. It's odd how every time I crossed into another state out here the landscape changed completely. Though not terribly exciting, I was having a great time. I love it out here... Last night around dusk I found a station playing some New Age music. This combined with the peaceful evening, the mostly full moon rising over the mountains to make for a wonderful drive... Then I went through a tunnel and when I came out the other side, I was picking up country music instead. I was all like, "NOooooooooooooooooo......" It's so hard to find decent music while traveling.
Gambling machines are everywhere out here. I knew they were around, but I didn't think they'd be in every little shop and convenience store as well. Makes me glad that these things aren't legal most other places, since it seems it wouldn't merely be a casino here and there. I don't get it anyway, places that exist only to empty your wallets and leave you with nothing to show for it. In fact, I went into the truck stop earlier and lost all the money I brought in with me. I figured I had to try it once since I'm here in Nevada. Though really, I'm sure I could have found a better use for that 30 cents. :(

Wow, that's a fantastic sunrise. Rather lucky you were there the right time of year for it to be right over the road.
That's some beautiful country there, too. While I did pass through Salt Lake City a couple years ago I didn't get to actually see the Great Salt Lake in person.
The vicinity of San Francisco, too ...if you get the chance you should definitely stop in and baffle the approximately 60 percent of everyone you know who's there.

Those are definately some very awesome pics. I want to write some kind of web doodad for you that will update a big "Where is Royce today?" map, but I'm lazy. ^_^
I've heard that they actually get lake effect snow from Salt Lake in the winters. Weird, eh?

Do you have something like an iPod or laptop to make up the difference? Seems like an almost essential companion for such long hauls.
And I'd have to concur with the (other) procyonid's sentiments - if you have any time spare there, you'd really have to drop by the City. ^_^ Could hop on a BART from the Dublin/Pleasanton station, and be in Fremont, Berkeley, or the City in 40 mins or so. (And gods know, there's more than a few photo opportunities to be found in the area, such as from Twin Peaks, or one of the SF-North Bay ferries)
And if you like really good beer, a visit to the Magnolia Cafe would be a fine idea, up in the Haight. ^_^

And you didn;t lose 30 cents. You invested it into a story you could tell us. :)
